Sam Amir Toossi
Sam Amir Toossi leads Akrivis Law Group’s White Collar Defense and Commercial Litigation practice, where he represents clients in criminal, civil, and regulatory matters with a focus on high-stakes, high-complexity disputes. A former federal and state prosecutor with over 20 years of courtroom experience, Mr. Toossi brings a rare blend of trial skill, investigative depth, and business acumen to his practice.
Mr. Toossi has tried 26 cases to verdict and argued numerous appeals before state and federal courts. He represents clients before the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Commodities and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and Public Company Accountability Oversight Board (PCAOB) in white collar investigations involving sanctions violations, securities fraud, FCPA issues, anti-money laundering (AML) compliance, and data privacy. His clients include executives, startups, investment funds, and global companies facing regulatory scrutiny or internal crises.
As an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, Mr. Toossi served as Deputy Chief of the International Narcotics and Money Laundering Section. There, he led sensitive cross-border investigations involving corruption, drug trafficking, and financial crime. He was awarded the Department of Justice’s highest honor—the Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service—as well as the Federal Prosecutor Award from the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation.
His private sector background includes years at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where he worked on securities, patent, and commercial litigation, and at PwC, where he directed civil and regulatory engagements involving data breach, professional liability, and financial fraud.
Mr. Toossi also brings significant experience as an educator and strategic advisor. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Law at Seton Hall University, where he teaches dispute resolution and arbitration, with an emphasis on international frameworks.
