Sabrina Shammas focuses her practice on national security matters, international trade compliance and enforcement, and complex white collar and civil litigation.

Ms. Shammas advises U.S. and international clients on a wide range of international trade and regulatory issues, including compliance with U.S. economic sanctions, export controls, customs and tariff requirements, and CFIUS matters. This includes advising clients on sanctions risk issues involving high-risk jurisdictions, BIS export classifications and licensing questions, trade compliance due diligence, and regulatory issues arising from cross-border transactions.

Separately, Ms. Shammas advises clients in government and internal investigations, including matters involving the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), and has extensive experience drafting complaints and motions for litigation against OFAC and the U.S. Department of State in challenges to SDN listings. She counsels clients involved in a number of white-collar criminal investigations, most prominently cases involving alleged U.S. export and sanctions violations.  Additionally, Ms. Shammas regularly advises on complex issues arising in both investor-state and commercial international arbitration, drawing on her experience and academic background in this space.

Prior to joining Akrivis, Ms. Shammas gained legal experience at the Paris offices of DLA Piper and Dechert LLP, where she worked on international arbitration and cross-border disputes. During law school, she interned at the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Court of International Trade (CIT).
